Dear friends and B.Forest readers,

Dear friends and B.Forest readers,

Brazil is entering a new stage in its economy, where expectations for the nation’s economic development is growing and projected figures seem to point to a return to industry growth and a chance for Brazil to take its place as a leading nation in the global scenario. From 2019 onwards, the Brazilian forestry sector could keep growing and expanding its global reach, whereas the timber industry, after a year of economic recovery, also reports high expectations for the market in the near future.
Analysing the possible outcomes and changes the new cycle in politics and in the economy may bring about in forestry is the focus of this issue of B.Forest magazine, which contains a special article on economic perspectives for 2019 and a second article dedicated solely to the announcements of expansion projects and the arrival of new foreign players in Brazilian forestry. This issue also premieres two new regular columns: Forestry World, which will discuss a different country’s forestry industry every month, and Research in Focus, which presents cutting-edge scientific production in forestry.
This issue’s main guest is an experienced professional who knows the market very well. Edson Martini is in charge of Komatsu Forest Brazil and led its growth in the country. In this interview, Martini talks to our team about challenges, technological innovations and perspectives for the future. Don’t miss it!
