Dear friends and B.Forest readers,

Dear friends and B.Forest readers,

While its major strengths are evident, the globalized world is increasingly aware of its main challenges. In the current scenario, in which we are all looking for ways to ensure the safety of future generations, the exploitation of non-renewable resources must give way to the intelligent use of clean sources of energy, raw materials and efficient and competitive bioproducts.
The main subject of this issue deals with a very pertinent theme for the sector: sustainability and ESG trends (social, environmental and corporate governance). In the nascent post-pandemic economy, sustainability must become an increasingly important factor to attract foreign investors and demonstrate the viability of Brazilian forestry enterprises.
Additionally, we have a successful case study on forest planning, addressing the different ways of planning (in a horizon of decades or mere minutes). We also have an article about the main solutions for high-efficiency CTL harvesting from one of the largest manufacturers of purpose-built forestry equipment in the world.
And our interview section continues to bring the main highlights of our Coffee with the Board series, in which some of the biggest names in the Brazilian forestry sector discuss a series of topics. This month, Heuzer Guimarães (WestRock), Maurício Harger (CMPC), Moacyr Fantini (Veracel) and Valmir Calori (Klabin) discussed the challenges of people management in the new times we’re living now. Don’t miss it!
