Dear friends and B.Forest readers,

Dear friends and B.Forest readers,

As we get closer to the end of 2019, we also begin to glimpse the new horizons the third decade of the new millennium will bring to all aspects of our lives. For the productive sectors, changes in international commerce dynamics and great technological advancements should transform industries all around the world.
One of the main concepts currently under discussion when it comes to technology is the 4.0 Industry, which will have highly connected, intelligent and automated processes. In forestry, much has already been said about the 4.0 Forest – and that is the theme of our first special report this month. Another tendency for the industries of the new decade is the use of renewable energy, and forestry biomass represents an excellent alternative, as it is capable of generating energy all year round. In our second special article, find out more about perspectives for Brazilian wood pellets.
This issue also brings you a special interview with Moacir Reis, president of the Mato Grosso do Sul Association of Forest Producers (Reflore/MS). Read on for the full interview.
As Malinovski’s new CEO, with the goal of taking our mission of going Beyond the Forest to new heights, I’m now responsible for overseeing the B.Forest Magazine, our special publication that, on the eve of its fifth anniversary, aims to become an ever more indispensable companion to all forestry professionals.
